The insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) is a key factor in the regulation of proliferation and differentiation of several cells and tissues. The protein consists of 70 amino acids and has an apparent molecular weight of 7,649kDa.
The measurement of IGF-I is indicated in case of growth disturbances and suspicion of acromegaly.
The IGF-I concentration is influenced by several different factors, e.g. food intake, food composition, hepatic diseases or obesity. But the predominant factor influencing the IGF-I content in human blood is the age. Thus, for assessing the test results age-specific reference values are necessary.
Mediagnost offers 3 different non extractive test systems for the measurement of human IGF-I in serum and plasma samples. All tsts are calibrated to the international standard WHO 02/254 (conversion factor: 0,75) and are provided together with reference values for the evaluation of test results.
An overview of major assay characteristics is given in the table below. More detailed information is available in the package insert and for special requirements or questions please contact us directly by email or phone.
